Day 155: For Conversations.

Today, I am thankful for…

  1. Making it to office on time in spite of waking up 20 minutes late.
  1. Having a good day at office.
  1. A nice long conversation with Jyothi after a realllly long time. I did most of the talking as usual, but it was still a conversation!
  1. Finishing And Thereby Hangs a Tale by Jeffrey Archer and starting A Summer Secret by Kathleen Fuller.
  1. Being able to say Good Night to each other (over the phone) just before falling asleep.

Day 154: For New Beginnings

Today, I am thankful for…

  1. Beginning a new phase of my life by starting off a new career. :)
  1. Getting back to the normal schedule of sleeping and waking up like humans as a result of starting work.
  1. Early morning conversations that seem to have slipped back into my schedule almost as suddenly as early mornings themselves.
  1. Having cool co-workers.. Most of them girls, around my age!! :)
  1. Having the best weekend ever… had authentic Arabic food a Bistro Grill Saturday night and an awesome rest of the weekend!

Day 146: For a Beautiful Start to the Day…

Today, I am thankful for…

  1. The beautiful morning that I woke up to. I hope every morning starts the way today’s did. :D :D
  1. The wonderful breakfast of Orange juice and Black Forest ice-cream (slurp!) that I had. Very unconventional, I know! That’s what made it all the more fun.
  1. Finally starting work on the project I’ve been talking about. Will upload loads of pictures when it’s done by the end of next month. :)
  1. Being able to experience the feeling of missing someone so much that it is painful to be away and knowing that the other person feels it too.
  1. Annie! It is a beautiful movie. I’m glad that I got to see it!

Day 145: For a Great time with Family

Today, I am thankful for…

  1. The family time that we had which translates to a perfect Sunday. My brother, his new bride and his mom were here since Saturday evening, which meant yummy dinner, yummy dessert and awesome conversations. This actually covers almost everything that I did today and doesn’t leave another four things to be thankful for, but I have one more.
  1. The wonderful rest of the day that I had. The most beautiful and cozy evening (a little rain would have added to the wonderful setting that the evening was!), a nice and private home cooked dinner and a wonderful sleep. I wish everyday was like this!!!

Day 144: For a beautiful home

Not that I’m bragging but I’m going to do a picture post today because I am totally in awe with how my home looks and I thought I might give you guys a glimpse.

I have a cousin who got married last month. So as a tradition, we invited the newly weds for dinner at our place. And so we got a chance to light all the fancy lights and get the fancy sheets out. So before my brother arrived with his wife and the rest of their family, I clicked a few pictures only because I couldn’t resist! So here goes.

This is the bedroom that my sister and I share. It has Olive green on the pillars, mustard yellow on the beams and off white on the walls, except for the wall behind the dressing table that has textured paint... And that's Natasha's stuffed dog (that she calls Poochi...) on her bed.

This is our bedroom with my bed in the forefront. My mom's office computer is on my bed just for the picture. We have a very old (seven years old to be precise) desktop computer at home (that has a monitor like a very old 17" TV) and I am quite content with it. :)

This is our living room as seen from outside my bedroom door. That's our temple with the glass bricks on the left hand side and our dining table right in front.

This is a picture of our living room as seen standing next to the temple. To the left, is the door to my bedroom.

This is our kitchen and that's my mom! And today, I'm thankful for both! :) :)

Here's a picture of the temple taken in October last year on Diwali day. Thought I'd give you a glimpse of that too. :)

I love my home!!!!

Day 143: For Strips of Paper…

It is not that the last few days have been bad or I’ve had nothing to write about. It’s just that I’ve just been lazy, very. And I don’t have the patience to list my Happy 5 for the days I’ve missed. So I’m just going to get on with the awesome things that happened today.

Today, I am thankful for…

  1. Lemon rice that was lunch with roasted groundnuts. I love it when they’re so crunchy!
  1. The hailstorm-like rain that poured over the city which allowed me to get drenched for the second time. :)
  1. Sandeep not having to travel four hours each day for work anymore.
  1. Having a creative project on hand.
  1. Learning and getting better at the art of Quilling. Here’s what I made today… :)

Day 137: For Uno

Today, I am thankful for…

  1. Being called about two hours earlier to take a lecture than scheduled. I gained two hours of the rest of my day because of that and I had a whole lot planned for today.
  1. Being able to relax in the afternoon.
  1. The Veggi Delite Sub at Subway with all the yummy sauces. Slurp!
  1. Being able to have my friends over at my place for a night in.
  1. Uno! The best and most funnest card game ever. You could go on and on and on and never even get bored. We started playing at eleven in the night and were up (still playing) till almost four in the morning! :)

Day 136: For Everything that Didn’t go Wrong.

Today, I am thankful for…

  1. Having a good end to the day with the crappiest start ever. Sometimes you think that your worst fears will come true and hope from the bottom of your heart that everything would stay the way it has always been. The minute you realize nothing had ever changed, you go from being gloomy to super gleeful! That’s what I experienced today!!! Absolute Glee!!!!! :)
  1. Speaking of Glee; have I mentioned that it is starting in India on June 25, Saturdays and Sundays 10 PM, Star World??? I have??? Oh! Well, I was happy about it when I last mentioned it and I’m still happy about it; so what the hell!
Just to clear things up, ‘Glee’ (or Star World) is not paying me to advertise! :P :P

  1. The fact that I’m getting better at Quilling. Here’s what I made today.

And this is a collection of all that I’ve made so far – in the last two days that is! :)

  1. Having great plans for the weekend. I’m looking forward to it.
  1. The rains that have made the weather so awesome. It is so good to get rid of the sticky messy humid heat and live peacefully without an AC. Ah! Good times.
P.S. I know I mentioned in one of the previous posts that I’d put up my henna design and I forgot to do that yesterday. So here it is. I started drawing pretty late and by the time I finished my palm, I was tired and groggy. So I’ve played a little on my fingers. And I haven’t been practicing so the design isn’t that great. But I’m still happy because it is way better than the designs I’ve had on my hands when I leave it up to someone else to draw. I’d prefer a hasty/clumsy me than a scrawly/messy someone else!

Do not laugh, okay?

Day 135: For Quilling

Today, I am thankful for…

  1. An early start to the day. It is always good to have and finish a lecture before noon so I have the whole day to myself. Doing what; is not important. Just the fact that I have the whole day to do whatever else it is that I want to do, is what counts.
  1. The awesome buy of Quilling equipment at Hobby Ideas. And I’m already addicted to it to say the least. Quilling is the art of making decorative objects by rolling and shaping long thin strips of paper; the raw material looks like this.

Here’s what I made to practice. They’re supposed to look like balloons and I think they do. A little bit! :P

And then I tried to make squares instead of circular things. I’m getting pretty good at it! :P

By the end of the day, I had succeeded in making flowers and leaves too... :)

  1. The nice guy at Hobby Ideas store who helped me with my purchases. He told me that I needed to buy the quilling pin which was not included in the starter kit that I purchased and I would need it to roll paper easily. :)
  1. The hilarity that Amit is! On most days (all days actually) you can count on him to cheer you up when you are low and induce a bellow of laughter from your belly on others. He must have rambled on and said the most nonsensical of things for twenty minutes at a stretch and I couldn’t help but be amused – this after knowing him for over sixteen years and being friends with him for over eight.
  1. The genius behind Prison Break. I’m stunned the way the story is progressing!!! I’m almost done with season 1 with a few episodes to go and I know I’m only going to love it!!!!

Day 134: For "Lollipop" :P

Today, I am thankful for…

  1. The gorgeous sleep I got after staying awake till almost four AM watching Castle, Prison Break and House! Oh! And then reading all the awesome blogs that I follow. I had a great time!
  1. The Glee song! I’ve been seeing promos on TV that Glee Season 1’s coming soon to India and the song they’ve been playing is such a happy peppy number!! I couldn’t resist myself and downloaded the song. For those who don’t know, it’s a song called “Lollipop” by Mika.
  1. Choco pie that I’ve been eating the past two days. It is heaven in my mouth, really!
  1. Reaching level 22 in Café World… I haven’t paid much attention to Social City, but I dig Café World really. I am also jobless, quite literally :P
  1. Doing something that I like and I know is going to turn out well. It’s been a long time since I had a good henna design on my hand. I’m never happy with what I’ve got in the past when someone else drew on my hand, so this time I decided to forget it and do it myself. I’ll have pictures for you tomorrow when its done!

Day 133: For Multiplexes

Today, I am thankful for…

  1. Having an agenda for the day other than going for class and lazing before the computer.
  1. My first theatre experience since January. Did I mention that I had no life the past few months?? Well, I got over that! I saw Rajneeti today and I loved it. I was on theatre strike for so long that I would’ve pretty much loved anything I saw, but I genuinely enjoyed the movie a lot! :D
  1. Pasta for lunch (the best I’ve tasted yet!), caramel pop-corn during the movie, paani puri in the evening at our usual place and then ice-cream (mocha almond.. yum!) again at our usual ice-cream place!
  1. Quality girl time! That gets ten points actually, and sort of is enough to complete today’s list and still have a few points left to spill over tomorrow.. but I’ll settle for one.
  1. The new look that I’ve given my other blog. I did it a few days ago, but forgot to mention it. Take a peek! You’ll like it too… :)

Day 132: For an Air-Conditioned Scooter

Today, I am thankful for…

  1. A good start to the day and by that I mean the lovely (filter) coffee Jyothi made this morning! I can still almost smell it! :)
  1. Insightful conversations that made me realize a few things I didn’t know about myself yet.
  1. Being able to get wet in the rain (first time this season)
  1. Having a pseudo air-conditioned environment while I was driving soaking wet. (Oh yeah! It started raining when I was driving back from Andheri and I didn’t have a wind cheater on me! But I got to experience rain; so what the heck?) It was risky, I agree but I don’t remember going beyond 40 kmph when the visibility was low. I am very careful that way. I’ll pat myself on the back on your behalf! :P
  1. Knowing that you always always always will have the support of someone who’s support and mere presence in every part and aspect of your life – critical or mundane; is extremely important for you to know that you’ll be okay no matter what.

Day 131: For the Birthday Party!!!!

Today, I am thankful for…

  1. The great time that we all had as a group in a really long time on the occasion of Jyothi’s birthday! I’m so very glad because it has been really long! :P
  1. Having an hour long conversation on the phone after a really long time even if it means that we had to start at five thirty in the morning and we were dead tired! It was all worth it and I was glad to not have any one disturbing or interrupting the conversation or any work that had to be completed before we could talk. I wish we had more days like this one.
  1. Having a wonderful lunch of authentic Chinese food at Aromas of China. And I had white wine for the first time. I thought I preferred red (or port wine to be more precise) but white wine is good too. Happy B’day Jyothi!!!
  1. Knowing that getting the bike here had some greater purpose that I wasn’t aware of when I decided to get it here. The bike came in handy when Sandeep forgot his lens case and someone had to go give it to him; or when Aditya could be dropped home; or when Arun had an errand to run! :P
  1. Having the first two seasons of House (that I didn’t have previously) on my HDD now! Thanks Arun! You ensured my time pass for the next two weeks now! Hahahahaha… :)

Day 130: For being a Sleepy-Head

Today, I am thankful for…

  1. Having a quick lecture…. Just 45 minutes and the rest of the day free.
  1. Having an awesome lunch and buttermilk to drink in the afternoon. So much that my belly was kinda overflowing.
  1. A nice nap as a result of the full tummy. I originally planned to have a nap for about forty five minutes and slept away for three and a half hours :P and was late to meet my friends in the evening. I had planned on taking the train but had to take my bike all the way till Andheri instead. It was fun!
  1. Having a nice time at dinner with Sandeep and Vishal.
  1. Being able to be with Jyothi at midnight for her birthday!!

Day 129: For the most Ironic Statement I’ve ever heard!

Today, I am thankful for…

  1. Waking up cheerful yet again and having a great start to the day.
  1. Having a middle-of-the-day 20 minute telephone conversation on a weekday after a really long time.
  1. Mom, who brought her laptop home from office. She’ll be working from home for a few days so she brought her office computer home. The good thing about that is, I have been addicted to these series (Prison Break, House M.D.) and the sad part is that I don’t have them on DVD and that’s why I have to sit on a chair in front of my computer to watch it. Now that the lappy’s here, I got to watch it lying comfortably! I saw 2 episodes each of Prison Break and House M.D. in the afternoon today. :)
  1. Taking Natasha out for a spin on the bike after a really long time.
  1. For being able to hear one of the most ironic (and yet original) statements ever! “I’m sleepy but I’m bored to sleep.” ????? What was that all about???? :P
